The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) aims to ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the river Ganga and to maintain minimum ecological flows in the river with improved water quality.

Devprayag: Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday flagged off the rafting expedition called ‘Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan’ or `Ganga Calling Campaign’, which has been organised by the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The month-long river rafting expedition between Devprayag in Uttarakhand and Ganga Sagar in West Bengal is to create awareness on water conservation. On the occasion, the minister distributed awards to students of various schools for their contribution towards spreading awareness about cleanliness at the Ganga ghats. New Delhi: The ‘Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan’ is a pioneering and historic exploratory open-water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga River to be held between 10th October 2019 to 11 November 2019. Starting at Devprayag and culminating at Ganga Sagar, the expedition will cover the entire streatch of over 2500 kms of the Ganga River.[Readmore]
