Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS), Pune a subordinate office under Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has been awarded with ISO 9001:2015 certificate for providing R&D support and consultancy through specific/basic hydraulic research for project related to water resources power and coastal engineering. CWPRS is the principal central agency to cater to the research and development (R&D) needs of hydraulics and allied disciplines for evolving safe and economical designs of hydraulic structures involved in water resources projects, river engineering, power generation and coastal engineering projects. Spillway works on Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram Project will be over by June 2020

VIJAYAWADA/ ELURU: The works of the Polavaram Irrigation Project, which were hampered due to floods since July, once again gained momentum with the new contracting agency, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL), launching the concreting works at spillway. Mumbai: Gargai Dam Affected Villages Give BMC The Go-Ahead

Six villages give written consent for resettlement; civic body to start the compensation process soon

A major hurdle in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) plan to increase water supply to Mumbai by constructing the Gargai Dam was cleared as the villages which come under the dam catchment area gave written consent for resettlement to the civic body.

Now BMC will conduct a drone survey of the villages and individual property and give compensation accordingly. Simultaneously, the BMC has started the procedure to prepare a design for the dam. Gargai Dam is being built on the Gargai river — a tributary of the Vaitarna. Once completed, the dam will add 440 million litres per day water supply to the cities.
