Indian Science Technology and Engineering facilities Map I-STEM

The I-STEM Web Portal is the gateway for users to locate the specific facility(ties) they need for their R&D work and identify the one that is either located closest to them or available the soonest. Through a recent GoI directive, institutions with R&D facilities funded by agencies of the GoI are now required to list them on the I-STEM Portal.

To protect the IP involved in building the I-STEM Portal, a provisional patent application entitled, "A method and process for efficient use of geographically dispersed resources", has been filed with the Indian Patent Office. [Readmore]

Gujarat ranked top for water efficiency, Delhi among worst performing states


The departments have been ranked on parameters for procurement, finance, real-time data acquisition system, data digitization, analytical work, trainings and updating MIS.

In the previous ranking in 2018, Telangana had got the top slot and this year’s topper, Gujarat, was ranked seventh last time.

Gujarat has been ranked the best for parameters on efficiency targets in the review of state and Central government water departments by the ministry of Jal Shakti. Rajasthan is the third best and Delhi is among the worst performing states, according to the ranking for 2019 circulated to different state governments recently.[Readmore]

Union Ministers meets Lt Governor in Jammu


Jammu, Jan 22 (PTI) Two union ministers, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Renuka Singh Saruta, on Wednesday separately met Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor G C Murmu here, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.


Shekhawat, Union Minister for Jal Shakti, and the Lt Governor discussed wide ranging issues pertaining to the management of water resources, National Water Policy, groundwater development, and implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the Union Territory, the spokesperson said.

He said they also discussed the Integrated Water Management which is vital for environmental sustenance and sustainable economic development.

"The Lt Governor observed that the conservation of water bodies and the sustainability of natural resources are of great importance and the present Government is taking effective measures to ensure judicious, equitable and sustainable management, allocation and utilization of water resources and generating public awareness in this regard, besides having the target of providing tap water to every household by ending 2021," the spokesperson said.[Readmore]

Jal Shakti Rankings 2019: Gujarat was the most water-efficient state in India, according to an HT report on rankings of the survey. The survey was based on various parameters on efficiency targets and the study included the review of central as well as the state government water departments by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti, the HT report stated. In the rankings, Rajasthan emerged as the third most water-efficient state. Meanwhile, the national capital stood amongst the worst states in this regard.[Readmore]

Bureaucratic slackness leads to dropping of Rs 406 cr worth Tawi flood protection DPR


JAMMU, Dec 23: Incredible it may sound but it is a fact that bureaucratic slackness has led to the dropping of Rs 406 crore worth Detailed Project Report for River Tawi flood protection works by the Central Water Commission, which otherwise was imperative to prevent flooding of the areas situated along the banks of river and bring an end to the sufferings of vast population.
The startling revelations in this regard have been made by Deputy Director, Central Water Commission Jammu in a detailed status report filed before the High Court in compliance to the directions passed in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the inhabitants of Barjala-Khandwal and other adjoining villages, which face the brunt of floods every year.
