Jal Shakti Minister Flags Off Rafting Expedition To Raise Awareness On Ganga Rejuvenation In Uttarakhand

The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) aims to ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the river Ganga and to maintain minimum ecological flows in the river with improved water quality.

Devprayag: Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday flagged off the rafting expedition called ‘Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan’ or `Ganga Calling Campaign’, which has been organised by the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The month-long river rafting expedition between Devprayag in Uttarakhand and Ganga Sagar in West Bengal is to create awareness on water conservation. On the occasion, the minister distributed awards to students of various schools for their contribution towards spreading awareness about cleanliness at the Ganga ghats. Andhra Pradesh furnishes info on Polavaram project to Jal Shakti Ministry

VIJAYAWADA: The State water resources officials have furnished to the Ministry of Jal Shakti all the details pertaining to Polavaram irrigation project right from its inception. In response to the letter written by the Union ministry, which sought the project details at the behest of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the wake of the State’s decision to go for reverse tendering based on the expert committee findings, the officials have mainly focused on substantiating the decision to hike the prices in 2015-16 and awarding the contract on nomination basis to Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd (NECL) in January 2018. Jal Shakti Ministry mulling to develop National Water Museum

New Delhi, Sep 18 (PTI) The Jal Shakti Ministry is planning to develop a National Water Museum to increase awareness among people on conservation of the natural resource, the ministry said on Wednesday.

The Jal Shakti Ministry is also organising an International Workshop on September 19-20 which will be attended by experts from India and abroad.

Eriberto Eulisse, Executive Director and Co-founder of Global Network of Water Museums, which is an umbrella organisation for such initiatives around the world, Sara Ahmed, Lead Curator, Living Waters Museum, Ahmedabad, GuyBroucke, Section Chief and Programme Specialist, Natural Sciences, UNESCO and Shamsher Ali and Syeda Tahmina Ferdous, Action Aid, Bangladesh will participate in the two-day workshop.
