Punjab resumes construction of Shahpurkandi dam

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Wednesday resumed the construction work on the Shahpurkandi Dam project, after due assessment on the ground with respect to labour available at the site and Covid-19 safety precautions.


The project is being constructed on river Ravi at an estimatecost of Rs 2,700 crore and will reduce the outflow of the river water to Pakistan, while benefitting both Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, once it is completed. [Readimore]
